Intel Celeron M: official debut

Today is a very interesting day for those who follow the development of processor lines. In fact, all the companies that produce chips for the x86 platform have noted press releases and today you will still hear about several new developments. However, the announcement from Intel is perhaps the most interesting, since today the company has officially started shipping a new class of its chips for mobile PCs – Intel Celeron M. To some extent, it can be argued that the mobile platform Centrino, which until now, in an amicable way, had the only drawback in the form of a high price, finally got rid of this annoying circumstance. 🙂

So, today the first three chips of the Intel Celeron M line are presented. Two of them, 1.30 GHz and 1.20 GHz Celeron M, operate at standard core voltage (1.356 V), refer to chips with TDP = 24.5 W. Another chip – 800 MHz ULV (Ultra-Low Voltage) Celeron M, characterized by a core supply voltage of 1.004 V, belongs to the class of chips with a TDP = 7 W. All three new processors are made in compliance with the 0.13 micron technical process, have 512 KB L2 cache, support a 400 MHz system bus, energy saving technologies, including Deep Sleep, are designed to work in systems based on the Intel 852GM chipset or Intel 855 series chipsets.

It remains only to mention the prices of new processors and wait for the first laptops on these chips to appear. In wholesale (from a thousand pieces) lots, the price of 1.30 GHz and 1.20 GHz Celeron M is $ 134 and $ 107, respectively; 800 MHz ULV Celeron M chip priced at $ 161.
