Would it be possible for me to make a custom ruleset to use on Fantasy Grounds? Rulesets are simply a collection of XML and Lua files, with some image resources as appropriate. So provided you’re fluent in (or willing to learn) those two languages, yes, it should be possible to create custom rulesets. A ruleset is a set of instructions that Fantasy Grounds follows to run your game. It describes what makes up objects in your games: player character (PC), non-player character (NPC), item, spells, etc. and how they interact with each other. Feb 28,  · Launch Fantasy Grounds and click on the folder icon to open your data folder. Navigate to the extensions folder. Paste the EXT file there. Close and re-open Fantasy Grounds and Create a New Campaign. Look for the ruleset that works with your new extension. Select that ruleset. The new extension should show up in the list of available extensions.

Because the 4E Effects page is missing the CUSTOM conditional operator just below Wounded and Bloodied. It’s present on the 5E Effects page and just needs copying over. I realised it was missing when I went looking into the ruleset code to see if I could backport CUSTOM from 5E to 4E only to be pleasantly surprised to find that the code is. First of all, lets talk proper nomenclature: in Fantasy Grounds (and its just Fantasy Grounds or FG, we’re actually on version at the moment, so FG2 is a bit redundant) a Ruleset is is the automatons, etc that allow us to play a given you are talking about, I believe, is a set of what we call Modules.

Light-emitting transistors: new technology will take a step forward

University of Illinois Researchers Announce Development of Ground-breaking Semiconductor Device – Light Emitting Transistor. A group of researchers led by Nick Holonyak Jr.) and Milton Feng designed, built and studied the properties of a light-emitting bipolar transistor that can be used in signal processing devices. Scientists believe that in the future, on the basis of such devices, it is possible to create integrated circuits, where not electrical impulses propagating along conductors, but quanta of light – photons will be used as a medium for transmitting information.

The light emitting transistor was made of indium gallium phosphide and gallium arsenide. Light is emitted by recombination of electrons and holes in the base layer of a bipolar transistor, and its intensity depends on the base current and is easily controlled and modulated. The effect of recombination of electrons and holes has been known since the very first days of the existence of semiconductor technologies, however, since earlier photons were emitted only in the infrared range, this effect was considered parasitic, and so far no one has been able to use it.

Scientists also report that the resulting light-emitting transistors make it possible to obtain modulated light with a phase coinciding with the phase of an electrical signal at frequencies up to 1 MHz. The question still remains to be answered how well light-emitting transistors will work at higher frequencies, and perhaps new ways of using them will be invented (for example, hybrid photon-electronic devices).
